He attended St. John's Northwestern Military Academy. Later, the academy recognized him as one of their "Notable Men of the Academy." After finishing there, he went to Illinois State University. He earned a bachelor's degree in Theater, which helped him start his acting career. In 2004, he received the "Outstanding Young Alumni Award" from the university.
