Reggie Hayes was born in Chicago, Illinois. He was the youngest of four children. He attended St. John's Northwestern Military Academy. This school recognized him as one of its "Notable Men of the Academy." After the academy, he went to Illinois State University. There, he earned a bachelor's degree in Theater.
