Regillio Simons is a Dutch football coach and a former player. He was born on June 28, 1973, in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Many people also know him as the father of the famous football player, Xavi Simons.

Regillio Simons: His Football Journey
Regillio Simons started his football career playing for a youth team called Amstelland. He became a professional player and played for several clubs in the Netherlands. These clubs included Telstar, Fortuna Sittard, NAC, Willem II, ADO Den Haag, and TOP Oss. He also played for a Japanese team called Kyoto Purple Sanga.
Playing for Fortuna Sittard
Simons had some of his best times playing for Fortuna Sittard. During the 1998–99 season, he helped his team win against big clubs. He scored two goals in a 3–1 victory over Ajax in Amsterdam. In the same year, he scored four goals in an exciting 6–4 home win against PSV Eindhoven.
Later Playing Years
After his professional career, Simons continued to play football at an amateur level. He played for Türkiyemspor, an amateur club in Amsterdam. From 2008, he also played for the Ajax Amateurs team for two years.
Regillio Simons: Becoming a Coach
In 2005, Regillio Simons began his coaching career. He worked as a head coach for different football clubs.
Coaching at Volendam
In 2023, he became the head coach for the Volendam under-21 team. In 2024, he moved up to manage the main Volendam team. This happened after the previous coach, Matthias Kohler, left the club. However, the team was moved down from the Eredivisie (the top Dutch football league). After this, Simons and the club decided to end his contract in May 2024.
About Regillio Simons' Life
Regillio Simons was born in the Netherlands. His family background is from Suriname. He has two sons, and one of them is Xavi Simons, who is a well-known football player for the German club RB Leipzig. Regillio Simons also earned his UEFA Pro Licence in 2010. This is a high-level coaching qualification.
