Reginald R. Robinson (born October 19, 1972) is an American musician. He is famous for playing jazz and ragtime music on the piano. In 2004, he received a very special award called the MacArthur Genius Grant. This award recognizes people who are exceptionally creative and talented.

Reginald Robinson's Early Life and Music Journey
Reginald Robinson grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He taught himself how to play music. His love for ragtime music started when he was in 7th grade. His mom bought a piano, and he spent three years learning music on his own.
Learning and Composing Music
In 1988, Reginald started taking piano lessons. He learned from Theodore Bargman at the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago. He also learned "sight-reading," which means playing music just by looking at the notes. Reginald began to write his own music in different styles, including ragtime piano.
First Performances and Awards
In 1992, Reginald met another pianist named Jon Weber. Jon helped him create a professional recording of his songs. He also helped Reginald have his first public performance at a place called The Green Mill. In December 1993, Reginald was a guest on a radio show called "Piano Jazz" with Marian McPartland. In 2004, Reginald Robinson won the "genius award" from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.
