Reginald Williams was an important English politician who lived a long time ago. He was from a place called Plas-y-Court in Willaston, Shropshire, and he passed away in 1612.

Early Life and Training

Reginald Williams was the oldest son of Thomas Williams, who was also an important person in his time, serving as a High Sheriff.

Reginald decided to study law. He began his training at a famous place in London called the Inner Temple in 1561. By 1571, he had finished his studies and became a lawyer. This was known as being "called to the bar."

A Career in Politics

Reginald Williams held several important jobs during his life. From 1573 to 1574, he was an "escheator" for Shropshire. This was a person who managed land and property for the King or Queen.

In 1579, he became a "prothonotary" for Flintshire and Denbighshire. This job involved keeping official court records.

He also worked as a Justice of the Peace (or JP). This meant he helped keep law and order in the community. He was a JP for Montgomeryshire by 1585 and for Shropshire starting in 1596.

Serving in Parliament

Reginald Williams was elected to the Parliament of England, which is like today's government. He represented different areas:

  • In 1571, he was a Member for Preston.
  • In 1593, he was a Member for Montgomeryshire.

He also served as the High Sheriff of Montgomeryshire from 1593 to 1594. A High Sheriff was a very important local official, responsible for law enforcement and collecting taxes.

Reginald Williams was married three times and had a large family.
