Reiko Miyaoka facts for kids

Reiko Miyaoka (Japanese: 宮岡 礼子, born in 1951) is a Japanese mathematician. She is also a professor at Tohoku University. Professor Miyaoka is well-known for her studies on special shapes in mathematics called hypersurfaces.

Reiko Miyaoka was born in 1951. She studied very hard to become a mathematician. In 1983, she earned her Ph.D. This is a very high university degree. She received it from the Tokyo Institute of Technology.

As a professor, Reiko Miyaoka teaches advanced math. She focuses on geometry, which is the study of shapes and spaces. Her research on hypersurfaces is very important in this field. In 2001, she received a special award. She won the Geometry prize from the Mathematical Society of Japan. This prize recognized her excellent contributions to geometry.
