Starting His Career
In 2015, Reimis Smith played for the Parramatta Eels' youth team, called the NYC team. Later that year, he moved to the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.
Playing for the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs (2016-2020)
On 7 May 2016, Reimis played for the Junior Kiwis (New Zealand's junior team) against the Junior Kangaroos (Australia's junior team). Just a few weeks later, in Round 12 of the 2016 NRL season, he made his first-ever game in the NRL for Canterbury against Canberra. He scored two tries in that game! He had to drive quickly from Sydney to Canberra because he was called up last minute.
In 2017, Reimis mostly played for Canterbury's reserve team. He didn't play any first-grade games that year. He did play for the Junior Kiwis again in May.
In 2018, Reimis got back into Canterbury's main team. He played on the wing. In Round 24, he scored three tries in one game against the St George Illawarra Dragons, helping his team win 38–0. He finished the season with 11 games and 7 tries. He also joined the New Zealand Kiwis training squad, but didn't make the final team. In October, he signed a new contract with Canterbury until the end of the 2020 NRL season.
In 2019, Reimis continued to score tries for Canterbury. He scored two tries in a game against Manly-Warringah and another two against the Sydney Roosters. In a game against Parramatta, he was temporarily sent off the field for a moment of frustration. In November, he signed another contract to stay with Canterbury until the end of the 2021 season.
Reimis played 14 games for Canterbury in the 2020 NRL season and scored four tries. At the end of 2020, Reimis was allowed to leave Canterbury to join the Melbourne Storm, who were the champions at the time.
Time with the Melbourne Storm (2021-2024)
Reimis had a great year in 2021 with the Melbourne Storm. He played 25 games as the team won 19 matches in a row and finished first in the regular season. He played in two finals games, but Melbourne lost in the preliminary final to the Penrith Panthers.
In 2022, Reimis had an injury to his chest muscle in Round 9. This meant he had to miss about 10 to 12 weeks of playing time.
In the 2023 NRL season, Reimis played 22 games for Melbourne. He scored five tries and played well alongside new winger Will Warbrick. Melbourne reached the preliminary final again but lost to Penrith. Reimis also played a few games for the Brisbane Tigers in the Queensland Cup during 2023.
On 31 July 2024, it was announced that Reimis was leaving the Melbourne Storm to play for another team.
Joining the Catalans Dragons (2024-present)
On 1 August 2024, Reimis Smith joined the Super League club Catalans Dragons for the rest of the season. He is currently playing for them.
