Rendall's Early Boxing Journey

Starting as an Amateur Boxer

Before turning professional, Rendall Munroe had a good amateur boxing record. He won 30 fights and only lost 10. This helped him get ready for the big leagues.

Becoming a Professional Boxer

Rendall had his first professional fight in September 2003. He won by stopping Joel Viney in the third round. This fight took place in Nottingham. After winning 10 more fights, he challenged Andy Morris for the British featherweight title. Rendall lost this fight after 12 rounds.

His first title win came soon after. He beat Marc Callaghan to win the English super bantamweight title. Rendall once said that David Kiilu was the toughest opponent he faced early on. He learned a lot from that fight, showing great determination.

Winning Big Titles: European and Commonwealth Champion

Rising to Fame

Rendall Munroe became very well known when he beat Kiko Martínez. This was a big surprise because Martínez had just knocked out another famous boxer in one round. Rendall won this fight in Nottingham. After this victory, Rendall successfully defended his European title three times. He beat Salem Bouaita, Arsen Martirosian, and Fabrizio Trotta.

Rematch with Kiko Martínez

On February 27, 2009, Rendall fought Kiko Martínez again. The fight was close in the beginning and middle rounds. But Rendall took control later on and won the fight. All the judges agreed that Rendall was the winner.

Commonwealth Title and World Title Shot

On May 2, 2009, Rendall won another important title. He became the Commonwealth champion by beating Isaac Netty. A year later, on April 23, 2010, Rendall won a big fight against Victor Terrazas. This win meant he could challenge Toshiaki Nishioka for the WBC super bantamweight world title.

The world title fight against Nishioka happened on October 24, 2010, in Tokyo, Japan. Rendall fought hard but lost the fight. All three judges scored the fight 119–109 for Nishioka. To fight for this world title, Rendall had to give up his European and Commonwealth titles.

Later Fights and Retirement

In January 2011, Rendall received an award in his hometown of Leicester. The Lord Mayor gave him the Honoured Citizen Award for promoting the city. Rendall then signed a deal with Hatton Promotions. His first fight with them was on April 16, 2011, where he won the WBA international super bantamweight title.

On June 16, 2012, Rendall fought Scott Quigg for another important title. The fight ended in a technical draw in the third round. This happened because Rendall got a cut above his eye from an accidental headbutt. Both boxers wanted a rematch.

Rendall Munroe announced his retirement from boxing on December 13, 2012. However, he decided to return to the ring on May 12, 2013. He won his comeback fight against Laszlo Fekete in the first round. Rendall continued to aim for a world championship.
