After winning 10 fights in a row, Rendall faced his first big challenge. He fought Andy Morris for the British featherweight title but lost the fight after 12 rounds. However, Rendall didn't give up. Just three fights later, he won his first title! He beat Marc Callaghan to become the English super bantamweight champion. Rendall once said that one of his toughest opponents early on was David Kiilu. He learned a lot from that fight and showed great determination.

The first fight in June 2012 was stopped early because Rendall got a cut from an accidental headbutt, and it was called a technical draw. Both boxers wanted a rematch.
