Reno is situated right along the famous Ohio River. It's a short distance south of Marietta, Ohio, which is the main town and "county seat" of Washington County. A Look Back: Reno's History
This community wasn't always called Reno. It was first known as Jericho. The name was changed to Reno when a post office was opened there in 1887. The new name honors Jesse L. Reno, who was a brave officer in the United States Army.
