History of Renova

Renova was first noted as a fast-growing town in 1907. It was located about 3 miles north of Cleveland, Mississippi. The town had a busy saw mill, which is a place where logs are cut into lumber.

The Yazoo & Mississippi Railroad served the town, helping to transport goods and people. A historian named Monroe Work mentioned Renova in his Negro Yearbook series. He listed it as one of the important towns and settlements in the United States that were founded by African Americans.
