The Review and Herald Publishing Association was a very old publishing company. It was one of the main publishing houses for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in North America. This company made many things like books, magazines, study guides, CDs, and DVDs. They also printed and sent out the Adventist Review magazine. In 2014, the company decided to stop printing and distributing items themselves. They still exist as a publisher, but they don't have their own printing factories anymore.

A Look Back: The History of the Review and Herald
The Review and Herald Publishing Association started a long time ago. Its beginnings go back to 1849. That's when James White created a publication called The Present Truth. In 1850, he started The Advent Review.
From these early papers, the publishing house grew. It moved to Battle Creek, Michigan.
Big Changes and New Locations
On December 30, 1902, a large fire destroyed the company's offices. After this, the main office moved to Takoma Park, Maryland.
In the 1950s, the company created a famous book series. It was called The Bible Story by Arthur S. Maxwell. This set of books was special because it was very big. It had 411 stories from the Bible. Also, each page had colorful pictures. This was very expensive for a book publisher at that time.
In 1983, the company moved again. It went to a new, large building in Hagerstown, Maryland. This new place was on a 127-acre campus. At that time, the publishing house had 350 employees.
Merging with Other Publishers
Edson White started another company called Gospel Herald Publishing Company. It was in Nashville, Tennessee. In 1901, this company changed its name to Southern Publishing Association. Later, in 1980, it joined with the Review and Herald.
Review and Herald in Creative Works
The Review and Herald Publishing Association has been featured in a documentary film. This film, made in 2014, talks about how the Seventh-day Adventist Church started. It also discusses the creation of the Review and Herald Publishing Association.
The company also publishes Liberty magazine. This magazine has been published since 1906. It currently reaches almost 200,000 readers.
