Rhys Badcock's Culinary Journey

Rhys Badcock started his cooking career by learning on the job, which is called an apprenticeship. He began at Driftwood Estate in the Margaret River area. This is a famous region known for its food and wine.

Early Cooking Experiences

After starting his apprenticeship, Rhys finished his training at Cape Lodge in Yallingup, Western Australia. He must have done a great job because he later returned to Cape Lodge as a sous chef. A sous chef is the second-in-command in a kitchen, helping the head chef manage everything.
