Ricardo Cabanas-Rey (born 17 January 1979) is a former professional footballer from Switzerland. He was a midfielder, which means he played in the middle of the field, helping both defense and attack. Ricardo Cabanas played for the Swiss national team in 51 international matches. Most of his club career was spent with Grasshoppers Zürich, but he also played in France for Guingamp and in Germany for 1. FC Köln.

Playing for Clubs

Ricardo Cabanas was born in Zürich, Switzerland. He started his football journey with Grasshoppers Zürich, one of Switzerland's most famous clubs. He played there for many seasons and helped them win the Swiss league title twice.

Moving to Germany and France

After his time at Grasshoppers, Ricardo moved to Germany to play for 1. FC Köln. During this period, he also had a short loan spell playing in France for En Avant de Guingamp. A loan spell means a player temporarily plays for another team.

Returning to Grasshoppers
