The Goalkeeper Save
One amazing event happened on November 19, 2006. Ricardo was playing for Millonarios F.C. against Independiente Medellín. Millonarios was winning 1–0, but with only five minutes left, their goalkeeper was sent off the field. There was no other goalkeeper available to take his place. So, Ricardo Ciciliano, a midfielder, bravely stepped in to be the goalkeeper! The other team was given a penalty kick, but Ricardo saved it! This incredible save helped Millonarios win the match.
Scoring Big in Copa Sudamericana
Another big achievement for Ricardo was in 2007. He scored two important goals against a famous Brazilian team, São Paulo F.C.. These goals helped Millonarios F.C. reach the semi-finals of a major tournament called the Copa Sudamericana 2007. That same year, Ricardo became the top scorer in the entire Copa Sudamericana, scoring six goals for his team.
Playing for His Country
Ricardo also represented his home country, Colombia, in international football. He played for the Colombian U-17 team in the 1993 FIFA U-17 World Championship held in Japan.
Later Life and Passing
Sadly, Ricardo Ciciliano passed away on September 17, 2020, at the age of 43. He had been in the hospital in Barranquilla due to complications from COVID-19.
