How is Rice Wine Made?
Making rice wine involves a special process. First, the starch found in rice needs to be changed into sugar. This is a key step. Once the starch becomes sugar, it can then go through fermentation.
Fermentation is a natural process where tiny living things, like yeast, turn sugar into alcohol. This is similar to how beer is made from grains. Regular wine, on the other hand, ferments the natural sugars already present in grapes.
Alcohol Content in Rice Wine
Rice wines usually have more alcohol than regular wines. They can have about 18% to 25% alcohol. Regular wines typically have 10% to 14% alcohol. Beers usually have less alcohol, often around 4% to 8%.
Types of Rice Wine
There are many different kinds of rice wines made around the world. One very famous type is called sake. Sake comes from Japan and is a popular drink there. However, sake is just one example among many other rice wines. Different countries and cultures have their own unique ways of making and enjoying rice wine.
