Richard's Role in History

Richard Beauchamp was known as Sir Richard Beauchamp of Kemerton and Boddington. He played an important role in English history.

In 1471, he bravely held the gates of Gloucester closed. This stopped Queen Margaret's army from crossing the Severn Bridge. It also prevented them from escaping into Wales.

As Queen Margaret's army moved north, Richard followed them closely. He even captured some of their weapons. He then fought in the famous battle of Tewkesbury. After this battle, he was given the special title of a knight.

His Family Life

On January 27, 1447, Richard Beauchamp married Elizabeth Stafford. Their wedding took place in his private chapel at Beauchamp's Court in Alcester, Warwickshire.

They had several children:

Richard Beauchamp passed away on January 19, 1502 or 1503. He died at a place called Broomhill. After his death, his title as Baron ended. His three daughters, Elizabeth, Margaret, and Anne, shared his family's inheritance.
