Jacques was the son-in-law of Johnson Harmon, who led the expedition where they served together. Jacques married Harmon's daughter five months before this event. He settled in Harpswell, Maine, in an area called Merriconeag Neck in 1727. Later, he served in the Siege of Louisbourg (1745).
