Richard Loncraine (born October 20, 1946) is a talented British director. He makes both movies and TV shows.

Richard Loncraine was born in a town called Cheltenham, which is in Gloucestershire, England.

He started his career at the BBC, which is a big British broadcasting company. There, he learned a lot about making films. He even directed parts of a science show called Tomorrow's World. Before he became a director, Richard was a sculptor. He was the first person to create a shiny, chrome version of a Newton's cradle. This is a toy with swinging balls that show how energy moves.

Richard Loncraine has won some important awards for his work. In 1996, he won the Silver Bear for Best Director at the 46th Berlin International Film Festival. He won this award for his movie Richard III. Later, in 2002, he won an Emmy Award. He shared this award with other directors for the famous TV series Band of Brothers.
