Richard Roby was born on September 28, 1985. He is an American professional basketball player. Richard played for many teams around the world during his career. His last team was the Shinshu Brave Warriors in Japan.
Richard went to high school at Lawrence Academy at Groton in Massachusetts. Later, he played college basketball for the Buffaloes at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He played there from 2004 to 2008. During his time with the Buffaloes, he scored about 17 points and grabbed 5.5 rebounds per game. He became the all-time leading scorer for Colorado in his very last college game!
Richard is the half-brother of another famous basketball player, Kenyon Martin. Richard got married in 2011 and has four children.

Richard Roby's Basketball Journey
After college, Richard Roby started his professional basketball career. In 2008, he signed with a team called Bnei Hasharon in Israel. The next year, he joined Maccabi Haifa B.C., also in Israel.
Playing in Mexico and the NBA D-League
In 2010, Richard played for the Nuggets in the NBA Summer League. This is where NBA teams test out new players. After playing a few games in Mexico for Halcones Rojos de Veracruz, he moved to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. This team is part of the NBA D-League, which is now called the G-League. It's like a minor league for the NBA.
Richard also played for teams in France and South Korea. He played for Fos sur mer in France and Club Wonju Dongbu Promy in South Korea.
Success in Japan
Richard became very popular in Japan. He played for the Akita Northern Happinets from 2013 to 2016. During this time, his team won the bj league Eastern Conference championship two years in a row! He even got his driver's license in Akita, Japan. He really enjoyed playing in Japan.
After his time with Akita, he signed with the SAN-EN NeoPhoenix in 2016. Later that year, he joined the Osaka Evessa.
The Basketball Tournament (TBT)
In the summer of 2017, Richard Roby played in The Basketball Tournament, which is shown on ESPN. He joined Team Colorado, which was made up of former Colorado college players. They were competing for a big cash prize. Team Colorado was a top team in their region. Richard helped them reach the "Super 16" round, but they were eventually defeated.
