Life of a Traveler

Richard Twiss was born in Rotterdam, a city in Holland, on April 26, 1747. His father was an English merchant living there. Richard also had a younger brother named Francis Twiss, who became a writer too.

Richard Twiss had a lot of money, which allowed him to travel widely. He explored many parts of Europe. Before 1770, he journeyed through Holland, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, and Bohemia. He then returned to England.

In 1772, he traveled to Spain and Portugal, coming back home the next year. In 1775, he visited Ireland. Later in his life, Twiss focused on writing and art.
