J. Richard 'Rick' Yeo was a Canadian ice hockey player and coach. He also worked for Michigan Tech for over 20 years. He was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, in 1944.

Rick Yeo's Ice Hockey Journey
Rick Yeo first came to Houghton as a player for the Michigan Tech Huskies. He played under coach John MacInnes. Rick joined the team after they won their first national title in 1962.
Winning Championships as a Player
Yeo helped Michigan Tech win their second national championship in 1965. In the final game against Boston College, he made two assists. He was the team captain in his final year as a player.
After college, Rick went back home to Thunder Bay. He worked there as a teacher and a coach. He played one last time for the Thunder Bay Twins in their first season. After that, he stopped playing ice hockey professionally.
Becoming a Coach
In 1973, Rick Yeo returned to Michigan Tech. He became an assistant coach for the team. He helped the Huskies win their third national championship in 1975.
Later, Yeo became the head coach for the Lake Superior State Lakers. He coached them from 1976 to 1981. While he didn't have as much success as some other coaches, he still did well with the Lakers.
Working at Michigan Tech University
Rick Yeo came back to Houghton for a third time in 1981. He started working for the Michigan Tech Fund. His job was to find donations for the university. He did this for eight years.
In 1988, Rick was honored by being added to the Michigan Tech Sports Hall of Fame. A year later, he became the director of alumni relations. This meant he worked with former students of the university.
Becoming Athletic Director
In 1990, Rick Yeo became the Athletic Director (AD) for Michigan Tech. As AD, he was in charge of all the sports teams at the university. He held this important role until 2005.
After being the AD, he took on a new job. He became the senior director of athletic development. In this role, he helped raise money to support the university's sports programs.
