Ridge Hill is a fun place in Yonkers, New York. It's like a big outdoor shopping center with lots of stores, restaurants, and even homes. It opened in 2011.
Ridge Hill was built by a company called Forest City. It's located between two big roads, Interstate 87 and the Sprain Brook Parkway. You can find many different shops and places to eat here. Some of the main stores include Showcase Cinemas (where you can watch movies!), Dick's Sporting Goods, REI, TJ Maxx, and Legoland Discovery Centre.
How Ridge Hill Started

The idea for Ridge Hill began way back in 2000. People in Yonkers wanted to create more jobs. The land where Ridge Hill now stands used to have old buildings like a hospital.
After some planning, a company called Ridge Hill won the chance to build on the land. They announced that popular stores like Whole Foods Market and L.L.Bean would be part of the new center.
Building Ridge Hill officially started on November 8, 2007. They first thought it would be finished by 2009. But because of money problems in the country, it took a bit longer. Ridge Hill finally opened its doors in 2011.
New Stores Join In
In 2010, more exciting stores decided to come to Ridge Hill. These included Dick's Sporting Goods and REI.
On March 26, 2013, something super cool opened: a Legoland Discovery Centre! It was the first Legoland of its kind in the Northeast United States. It's a great place for families to play with LEGOs.
In 2014, even more stores arrived, like Starbucks for coffee and The Container Store.
Changes Over Time
Like many places, Ridge Hill has seen some changes. In 2020, a big department store called Lord & Taylor closed its doors.
Later, in December 2020, REI also announced it would be closing in early 2021. This was due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
