Right upper quadrant (abdomen) facts for kids
The right upper quadrant (RUQ), is an anatomical area of the human body, this area may also be called the epigastrium. The RUQ extends from the median plane to the right of the patient, and from the umbilical plane to the right ribcage. Pain localized in the RUQ may be a sign associated with various medical conditions:
- Hepatomegaly - enlarged liver
- Splenomegaly - enlarged spleen
- Hepatosplenamegaly both liver and spleen enlarged
- Gallstones
- Pyloric stenosis
