His original name was Ricardo, but after becoming a Japanese citizen in August 2003, he changed it to Rikarudo. This change made his name sound more like a Japanese pronunciation.

Rikarudo Higa was born in Campinas, Brazil, on May 4, 1973. He started his sports career playing football in Brazil. Later, he moved to Japan and continued his journey in the world of sports.
His Journey in Football
In 1997, Rikarudo Higa moved to Japan. He joined a club called Yaita SC in 1998. The next year, in 1999, he moved to Albirex Niigata, a team that had just been promoted to the J2 League. He played 34 games for them and scored 6 goals.
After that, in 2000, he played for Okinawa Kariyushi FC. In 2003, he joined FC Ryukyu. This club moved up through different leagues, reaching the Japanese Regional Leagues in 2005 and the Japan Football League in 2006. Rikarudo Higa finished his football career at the end of the 2006 season.
Playing Futsal for Japan
After becoming a Japanese citizen in 2003, Rikarudo Higa was chosen to play for the Japan national futsal team. Futsal is a version of football played on a smaller indoor court, usually with five players per side.
