Rikihiro Sugiyama (杉山 力裕, Sugiyama Rikihiro, born May 1, 1987 in Shizuoka, Japan) is a Japanese former professional footballer. He played as a goalkeeper for many years.

Rikihiro Sugiyama's Football Career

Rikihiro Sugiyama started his football journey in his home country, Japan. He played for his high school team, Shizuoka Gakuen High School, from 2003 to 2005. This was where he developed his skills as a goalkeeper.

Playing for Kawasaki Frontale

After high school, Sugiyama joined his first professional club, Kawasaki Frontale, in 2006. He played for this team for nine seasons, until 2014. During his time with Kawasaki Frontale, the team was very successful. They finished as runners-up in the J1 League three times (in 2006, 2008, and 2009). They also reached the finals of the J.League Cup twice, in 2007 and 2009.

Moving to Shimizu S-Pulse

In 2015, Rikihiro Sugiyama moved to another Japanese club, Shimizu S-Pulse. He played for them for two seasons. In 2016, the team was in the J2 League, which is the second division of Japanese football.

Time with Avispa Fukuoka

Sugiyama then joined Avispa Fukuoka in 2017. He played for this club for six seasons, until 2022. During his time there, Avispa Fukuoka played in both the J2 League and the top-tier J1 League. He retired from professional football after the 2022 season.
