Riley is a small, quiet place in Wisconsin, United States. It's known as an unincorporated community, which means it's a group of homes and businesses that don't have their own local government like a city or town does. Instead, it's part of a larger area called Springdale, which is in Dane County.
A Peek into Riley's Past
Riley got its name from the Riley brothers, who owned land in the area a long time ago. Imagine a time when letters were the main way people communicated! To help with this, a special building called a post office was opened in Riley in 1882. This post office helped people send and receive mail for many years. However, in 1940, the post office closed down. Even though the post office is gone, the name Riley still reminds us of the community's history.
