About the Ringling International Arts Festival

The Ringling International Arts Festival is a special celebration of creativity. It features various art forms like dance, music, and theater. The goal is to show people amazing performances and artworks from around the globe. It's a chance to see unique shows you might not find anywhere else.

Where it All Began

Sarasota, Florida, has been an important place for the arts for a long time. This started way back in the 1920s. John Ringling, who helped create the famous Ringling Brothers Circus, built his winter home in Sarasota. He also finished building the Ringling Museum of Art in 1931.

When John Ringling passed away in 1936, he left his art museum to the State of Florida. The museum became very well-known around the world. Because of this, Sarasota also became home to many major places for opera, ballet, dance, and theater. The Ringling International Arts Festival continues this rich tradition of art in the area.
