Margarita Volkovinskaya (Russian: Маргарита Волковинская, born September 3, 1990), known as Rita Volk, is an Uzbekistani-American actress. She is famous for playing Amy Raudenfeld in the MTV comedy series Faking It.
Early life
Rita Volk was born in Tashkent, which was part of the Soviet Union at the time. When she was six years old, her family moved to San Francisco, USA. A person looking for models saw her and asked her to try out. After auditioning for commercials, Rita decided she really wanted to be an actress.
Rita went to Lowell High School in San Francisco. During high school, she acted in school plays. She also loved movies, which helped her family learn American English and culture. In 2005, she won an award for poetry in high school.
After high school, Rita went to Duke University. She studied psychology and also prepared for medical school. While in college, she acted in student films. She was also part of "Inside Joke," which was Duke's comedy group.
Career
In 2013, Rita Volk was chosen for a new MTV comedy show called Faking It. She got a main role as Amy. MTV decided to make the show into a full series in October 2013. Interestingly, Rita first tried out for the role of Karma, not Amy.
In 2015, she joined the cast of a film called Almost Friends. She also appeared in a music video in 2017. This video was for the theme song of the movie Christine, and it was directed by John Carpenter.
