Ritchey is a small village located in Newton County, Missouri, in the United States. In 2020, about 66 people lived there. Ritchey is part of the larger Joplin Metropolitan Area.

History of Ritchey

Ritchey was first known as Richville. It was officially planned out in 1870. The village got its name from Matthew H. Ritchey, who founded the community. He had moved there in 1832. A post office opened in Ritchey in 1871 and served the area until 1974.

Ritchey is located in southwestern Missouri. Its exact location is 36.943808 degrees North and 94.185889 degrees West. The village is very small, covering a total area of about 0.13 square kilometers (0.05 square miles). All of this area is land, with no water.
