Rivadavia, officially known as Ciudad de Rivadavia, is a city in Argentina. It is the main city of the Rivadavia Department. This department is located in the south-central part of the San Juan Province. The province itself is in the west-central area of Argentina.
Rivadavia is about 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) west of the city of San Juan. These two cities are very close. They form a larger urban area called Greater San Juan.
The city of Rivadavia became official on July 8, 1993. This happened when Provincial Law No. 6,343 was approved. This law also set the city's boundaries.
