The river gets its name from the nearby village of Carno. This village is located close to where the river begins its journey. The source of the River Carno is in the lower parts of the Cambrian Mountains.

The River Carno: A Journey Through Wales

The River Carno starts its adventure high up in the hills. It then flows through some interesting places in Powys. Understanding its path helps us see how rivers connect different parts of the land.

Where Does the River Carno Start?

The River Carno begins its flow in the beautiful Cambrian Mountains. These mountains are a range of hills in Wales. The river's starting point is near the village of Carno. This is how the river got its name!

Following the River's Path

After leaving the hills near Carno, the river travels onwards. It flows generally in the same direction as the A470 road. This road is a main route through Wales. The river passes by a small place called Clatter. It also goes through the village of Pontdolgoch.

Where the River Carno Ends

The journey of the River Carno comes to an end at a place called Caersws. Here, the Carno joins the much larger River Severn. The River Severn is one of the longest rivers in Great Britain. So, the water from the Carno eventually becomes part of this big river's flow.
