Making the Show: How it Started
On November 30, 2012, a TV channel called The LifeStyle Channel announced something exciting. They were going to make an Australian version of the famous River Cottage show. This was the first time the show was made in another country!
The original English host, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, even came to Australia. He helped find the perfect Australian host and taught them how to live the "River Cottage" way.
Meet the Host and Location
On March 25, 2013, they announced the new host. It was a chef from Tasmania named Paul West. The special farm for the show, called "River Cottage," was set up in a beautiful place. This place is called Central Tilba, New South Wales.
The first season had 8 episodes. It started on June 27, 2013. Two companies, ITV Studios Australia and Keo Films, worked together to make it.
More Seasons for Fans
Because people loved the show, The LifeStyle Channel decided to make two more seasons! This was announced on August 16, 2013. For these new seasons, only Keo Films produced the show.
The second season began on May 1, 2014.
In April 2015, they shared more good news. The third season, also with 8 episodes, would start on May 26, 2015. This time, the show moved to a different channel. It aired on LifeStyle Food, which is a sister channel to The LifeStyle Channel.
On November 5, 2015, it was announced that a fourth season was coming! This season premiered on March 29, 2016.
Sadly, in January 2017, the show was cancelled. But it had a great run helping people learn about farming and self-sufficiency!
