River Point, also known as 200 North Riverside Plaza, is a very tall skyscraper in Chicago, Illinois. It stands at 444 West Lake Street. This amazing building has 52 floors and reaches a height of about 730 feet (213 meters).
It's special because it was built right over active railroad tracks and even a subway line! This meant that some of its support columns had to be angled in a unique way. This design choice created the cool curved shape you see at the bottom of the building.

Building River Point: A Big Project
The company Hines developed River Point, and Pickard Chilton designed it. The plans for the building were made before a tough economic time called the Great Recession. But the building was actually built after that period.
Starting Construction
Work on the tower officially began in January 2013 with a special ceremony. The builders aimed for the building to get a Gold LEED certification. This means it was designed to be very friendly to the environment and save energy.
Who Works Here?
Many companies have their offices in River Point. Morton Salt moved its main office here in December 2016. A large law firm called McDermott Will & Emery is also a big tenant. They moved into River Point in March 2017. Another company, Mead Johnson, also moved its main office to this building from a nearby town.
Where is River Point Located?
The land where River Point stands is very special. It's called River Point because it's exactly where the North and South branches of the Chicago River meet!
Next to the River
The building is located between Canal Street and the Chicago River. It's also north of another tall building called 150 North Riverside. That building was finished in 2017, just a few months after River Point. It was also built over railroad tracks.
A Park for Everyone
The city of Chicago required the building to include a large public park. This park is about 1.5 acres in size. There's also a beautiful Chicago Riverwalk that is open for everyone to enjoy. To make space for this park and riverwalk, the building was built over active train tracks.
