River Rose's Big Adventure
It's a super exciting day for River Rose because she's going to visit the zoo! But the night before, she's too thrilled to close her eyes. She just can't fall asleep.
Her mom helps her by singing a special, magical lullaby. This lullaby sends River Rose on an amazing dream adventure. In her dream, she gets to play and dance with all sorts of animals. She hops with hippos, slides with penguins, and even dances with big brown bears!
How the Book Was Made
Inspiration from a Daughter
Kelly Clarkson got the idea for River Rose and the Magical Lullaby from her own daughter. In 2015, Kelly traveled a lot for her music. She visited places like Vietnam, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Her daughter came along on these trips.
Kelly thought her daughter was too young to remember all the cool places they saw. So, she started writing short stories. She also took many photos during their travels. She wanted these stories and pictures to help her daughter remember their adventures later.
From Stories to a Book
Later, Kelly decided to turn these short stories into a picture book. She hoped that other children would also feel inspired by the book. She wanted them to know that they can achieve anything they dream of.
Publishing and Music
On February 9, 2016, the publishing company HarperCollins bought the rights to publish the book. They planned to release it on October 4, 2016. HarperCollins also announced a special surprise. Kelly Clarkson would record an original lullaby to go with the book!
When the book came out, it included a link. This link took readers to a HarperCollins website. There, they could listen to the lullaby, called "River Rose's Magical Lullaby." The website also linked to SoundCloud, where people could listen to the song online. "River Rose's Magical Lullaby" was also released as a song you could download or listen to on other music streaming services.
The day before the book was officially released, on October 3, 2016, a lyric video for the lullaby was put on Kelly Clarkson's official YouTube channel.
