The River Truim flows near the village of Etteridge.

The River Truim is a river in the Scottish Highlands. It flows into the River Spey. The word "Truim" comes from the Gaelic word for 'elder tree'.

The River Truim starts in the mountains north of the Pass of Drumochter. It flows north past a dam at the top of Loch Ericht. The river then goes through Dalwhinnie, which is the highest village in the Scottish Highlands. Dalwhinnie is also home to the highest whisky distillery in Scotland.

River's Journey

The River Truim has a main stream called the Allt Cuaich. Some of its water is moved by an aqueduct to Loch Ericht. The river then continues flowing north through a valley called Glen Truim. It goes over the Falls of Truim. Finally, the River Truim joins the River Spey about 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) southwest of Newtonmore.

Close Companions

For most of its journey, the River Truim flows very close to two important routes. These are the A9 road and the main railway line. Both the road and the railway connect Perth to Inverness.
