Riverside Park is a fun town park located in Glenrothes, Scotland. It's a great place to explore nature, play, and see cool art! History of Riverside Park
Riverside Park has an interesting past. It wasn't always a public park.
From Private Garden to Public Park
Long ago, this land was part of the large garden belonging to the Earl of Rothes. The Earls of Rothes were important noblemen who owned a lot of land in this area. The park was their private garden for many years, from the time of John Leslie, the 1st Duke and 7th Earl of Rothes, all the way up to Norman Leslie, 19th Earl of Rothes.
In the 20th century, the land became a public park for everyone in Glenrothes to enjoy.
Leslie House
Inside the park, you can see Leslie House. This is a historic building that used to be the home of the Earls of Rothes. The house has been closed since 2009 and is not open to visitors. It is a private property.
