About the Perdrix River
Where the River Starts
The Perdrix River begins its journey in the town of Notre-Dame-du-Rosaire. Its source is on the northern side of a place called "Maple Mountain." This mountain is part of the Notre Dame Mountains. Many small streams from the mountains and forests help to feed the very beginning of the Perdrix River.
The River's Journey
From where it starts, the Perdrix River flows for about 32.3 kilometres (20.1 mi). It travels through different areas and changes direction along the way.
Here's how its journey unfolds:
- It flows 3.3 kilometres (2.1 mi) northeast in Notre-Dame-du-Rosaire.
- Then, it goes 5.9 kilometres (3.7 mi) northward until it meets the Inconnue River.
- It continues 0.8 kilometres (0.50 mi) north, reaching the border between Notre-Dame-du-Rosaire and Cap-Saint-Ignace.
- Next, it flows 13.2 kilometres (8.2 mi) north.
- It turns west for 5.6 kilometres (3.5 mi), crossing the "route des Pommiers."
- It travels 1.3 kilometres (0.81 mi) west, reaching the border between Cap-Saint-Ignace and Montmagny.
- It flows 1.9 kilometres (1.2 mi) west, passing under highway 20.
- Finally, it goes 0.3 kilometres (0.19 mi) north to where it ends.
Where the River Ends
The Rivière des Perdrix finishes its journey by flowing into the Bras Saint-Nicolas. This meeting point is very close to the St. Lawrence River, about 1.6 kilometres (0.99 mi) away from its south shore. It's also about 3.1 kilometres (1.9 mi) upstream from a railway bridge in the town of Montmagny.
