The Rivière du Petit Portage (which means Little Portage River in English) is a small river in Quebec, Canada. It flows into the Chaudière River, which then empties into the mighty St. Lawrence River.
This river is located in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec. It runs through two towns: Saint-Hilaire-de-Dorset and Saint-Gédéon-de-Beauce. These towns are part of the Beauce-Sartigan Regional County Municipality, often called an MRC.
About the River's Name
The name Rivière du Petit Portage was officially recognized on February 28, 1980. This was done by the Commission de toponymie du Québec, which is a group in Quebec that names places. The word "toponymy" is the study of place names.
