The Rivière aux Ours (which means "Bear River" in French) is a small river in Quebec, Canada. It flows through the town of Saint-Raymond in the Portneuf Regional County Municipality. This river is a branch of the Sainte-Anne River.
The area around the Rivière aux Ours is used for farming and forestry (growing and cutting down trees). Roads like Corcoran road and Chute-Panet road help people get around the valley.
The river usually freezes over from early December until the end of March. It's safest to walk or play on the ice from late December to early March. The amount of water in the river changes with the seasons and how much rain or snow falls. The river's water level is highest in March or April, which is called the spring flood.
River's Journey
The Rivière aux Ours starts in a swampy area near the Pionniers Industrial Park in Saint-Raymond. This starting point is about 154 meters (505 feet) above sea level.
From its source, the river flows for about 6.6 kilometers (4.1 miles). It mostly goes through forests, but also some farm areas. The river drops about 25 meters (82 feet) in height from start to finish.
Here's how the river flows:
- First, it travels about 1.7 kilometers (1.1 miles) through the swamp, heading west and then south. It passes under the Cormoran road bridge.
- Next, it flows about 1.8 kilometers (1.1 miles) southwest, crossing Germain street.
- Finally, it goes about 3.1 kilometers (1.9 miles) southeast, making a curve towards the east. Along the way, it collects water from several small lakes, including Lac Plamondon. It also crosses Route 354 before reaching its end.
The Rivière aux Ours joins the Sainte-Anne River on its south bank. This meeting point is about 129 meters (423 feet) above sea level. From there, the water continues to flow with the Sainte-Anne River for about 69.1 kilometers (43 miles) until it reaches the Saint Lawrence River.

The name "Rivière aux Ours" was officially recognized on August 17, 1978, by the Quebec Place Names Bank.
