Charles Robert Lund (Rob) Strachan was born on June 5, 1960, in Münster, West Germany. His family comes from the Mill of Strachan, a place in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Rob Strachan is the chosen Commander of Clan Strachan. He has traveled a lot, living in six countries in the Middle East and also spending six years in Canada. In April 2014, Clan Strachan held a special meeting in Edinburgh. This meeting was called a Family Convention. It was overseen by Charles Burnett, a Ross Herald Extraordinary, who was appointed by the Lord Lyon King of Arms. Everyone at the meeting agreed that Rob Strachan should be recognized as the Commander. A few days later, on April 23, 2014, Dr. Joseph J. Morrow, the Lord Lyon King of Arms, officially appointed Rob Strachan as Commander of Clan Strachan. He was expected to serve for up to 10 years, hoping to become the permanent Chief of Strachan after that time.
