The Robbins Museum is also known as the Robbins Museum of Archaeology. It is a special place that teaches us about the past. The museum is run by the Massachusetts Archaeological Society (MAS). You can find it in Middleborough, Massachusetts, USA.

This museum has a huge collection of about 150,000 old items, called artifacts. Over 3,000 of these items are on display for you to see! The museum has a gallery, a place for talks, a library, and a gift shop. It has lots of space for exhibits.

You can see many artifacts and displays about Native Americans from New England. These include a timeline of history and a diorama. The diorama shows what a 4,300-year-old village might have looked like. There are also Native American dolls, a handmade mishoon (which is a dugout canoe), and portraits.

Museum History: How It Started

Before the Robbins Museum opened, the Massachusetts Archaeological Society kept its collection at the Bronson Museum. This was in Attleboro, Massachusetts. However, the collection grew very large, with over 90,000 artifacts. The Bronson Museum became too small.

So, in 1988, the Society decided to create a new museum. They renovated an old factory building, called the Robertson Factory. This new museum was named in honor of Dr. Maurice Robbins. He was the person who founded the Massachusetts Archaeological Society.
