How Roberds Lake Got Its Name
Roberds Lake has a fun story behind its name! It was named after an early settler named William Roberds. Back in 1855, he was a pioneer in the area.
The other settlers made a challenge to William. They told him that if he could swim all the way across the lake, they would name it after him. William Roberds took on the challenge and successfully swam across!
Because of his brave swim, the lake has been known as Roberds Lake ever since. William Roberds also built a mill near the lake around the same time, in 1855.
