Robert Dillon, 3rd Baron Clonbrock facts for kids
Robert Dillon, who became the 3rd Baron Clonbrock, was an important person in Ireland. He was born on March 29, 1807, and lived until December 4, 1893. He was part of a group of people called "peers" in Ireland.
Robert Dillon was the son of Luke Dillon, the 2nd Baron Clonbrock. His mother was Anastasia, whose father was Joseph Blake, the 1st Baron Wallscourt. Robert went to school at Eton and then studied at Christ Church, Oxford.
In December 1826, when he was 19, Robert became the Baron Clonbrock after his father passed away. This title was an "Irish peerage." It meant he was a nobleman in Ireland. However, it did not automatically give him a seat in the British Parliament's House of Lords.
But in 1838, he was chosen to be an Irish Representative Peer. This meant he could represent Ireland in the House of Lords. In 1872, he was given another important job. He became the Lord-Lieutenant of Galway, which is like a special representative for the King or Queen in County Galway, Ireland. He held this job until 1892.
His Family Life
Lord Clonbrock married Caroline Elizabeth Spencer in 1830. Her father was Francis Spencer, the 1st Baron Churchill. Robert and Caroline had a large family together. They had four sons and eight daughters.

Lady Clonbrock, his wife Caroline, passed away in December 1864 when she was 59 years old. Lord Clonbrock lived as a widower for many years after that. He passed away in December 1893 at the age of 86. His second son, Luke Dillon, became the next Baron Clonbrock.
