Early Life and School
Robert Egerton Grosvenor was the older son of Francis Egerton Grosvenor, 4th Baron Ebury. His mother was Mary Adela Glasson. His family, the Grosvenors, were well-known and connected to the Dukes of Westminster.
Robert went to Harrow School for his education. When his father passed away in 1932, Robert became the 5th Baron Ebury.
His Career and War Service
Lord Ebury worked for the government from 1939 to 1940. He was a Lord-in-waiting, which meant he helped manage government business in the House of Lords.
During the Second World War, he served as an officer in the Royal Artillery. He showed great bravery in 1944 during the Battle of Monte Cassino. For his courage, he received the Distinguished Service Order (DSO). In 1954, he was also awarded the Territorial Decoration (TD).
His Family and Children
Lord Ebury was married three times and had children from his first two marriages.
First Marriage
In 1933, he married Anne Acland-Troyte. They had two sons before they divorced in 1941:

Second Marriage
In 1941, he married Denise Margaret Yarde-Buller. They had two sons and two daughters before they divorced in 1954:

Third Marriage
In 1954, Lord Ebury married Sheila Winifred Dashfield. They did not have any children together.
His Death
Lord Ebury loved car racing. On May 5, 1957, he was driving a Jaguar C-Type at the Prescott Speed Hill Climb in Prescott, Gloucestershire. Sadly, he had an accident and passed away at 43 years old.
He was cremated in Oxford. His eldest son, Francis, became the 6th Baron Ebury after his death.
