Robert Kranjec (born 16 July 1981) is a Slovenian former ski jumper. He was known for his amazing skills in ski flying, where athletes jump even further than in regular ski jumping.

Robert Kranjec's Ski Jumping Journey

Robert Kranjec achieved great success in his career. He won a bronze medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. This was for the team large hill event, where skiers jump from a big ramp together.

First Wins and Ski Flying Success

In 2005, Kranjec won his first ever World Cup event. This big win happened in Kuusamo, Finland. After this, he became especially good at ski flying competitions.

In 2010, he won his second World Cup event in Tauplitz, Austria. He also earned second place twice in other ski flying events that year. Because of his strong performance, he won the overall ski flying World Cup title for the 2009–10 season.

World Champion and Retirement

Kranjec made history in 2012 at the 2012 FIS Ski Flying World Championships. He won the gold medal in the individual competition. This made him Slovenia's first ever World Champion in ski flying. He also set a new national record for the longest jump. At the same championships, he helped his team win a bronze medal. In that same season, he won his second ski flying World Cup title.

Robert Kranjec stopped competing in ski jumping in March 2019.

Robert Kranjec was born in Ljubljana, which was then part of Yugoslavia. Today, Ljubljana is the capital city of Slovenia. His mother is Slovene and his father is Croat.
