Robert Martin is a Native American leader in education. He helps run colleges and universities. He has worked at several colleges that focus on Native American studies.
Early Leadership Roles
From 1989 to 1999, Dr. Martin was the president of the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute. After that, he became president of Haskell Indian Junior College. He worked there for ten years.
More College Leadership
From 2001 to 2005, Dr. Martin was the president of Tohono Oʼodham Community College. He also worked at the University of Arizona. There, he helped lead programs about American Indian Studies.
Leading IAIA
In May 2007, Robert Martin became the president of the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA). He continues to lead this important art college today.
