Robert Saunderson was the brother of Nicholas Saunderson, 1st Viscount Castleton. He was also the nephew of Thomas Grantham.
Early Life and Education
Robert Saunderson was born after the year 1561. He was the second son of a man also named Robert Saunderson. His family lived in Saxby and Fillingham, both in the West Lindsey area of Lincolnshire.
He went to Oxford University, a very famous university in England. He studied at a part of Oxford called Broadgates Hall. In 1579, he was accepted into Lincoln's Inn, which is a special place where lawyers are trained.
Political Career
Robert Saunderson was involved in politics. He wrote letters to Michael Hickes, who was an important person at the time. He was also thought to have connections with Robert Cecil, 1st Earl of Salisbury. Robert Cecil was a very powerful politician during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I.
In 1589, Robert Saunderson became a Member of Parliament (MP). He served in the 7th Parliament of Queen Elizabeth I. An MP is someone elected to represent a town or area in the House of Commons. He only served for one term.
