Robert Weaver (born around 1630 – died 1687) was an English politician. He was a member of the House of Commons for a short time in 1659. The House of Commons is a part of the British Parliament where laws are made.

Who Was Robert Weaver?

Robert Weaver was born around 1630. He grew up in Aymestrey, a place in Herefordshire, England. His father was Thomas Weaver, and his mother was Anne Lewis. Robert also had two cousins, Richard Weaver (MP) and Edmund Weaver (MP), who were also politicians.

Early Life and Education

Robert's father, Thomas Weaver, was an important person in his area. He served as the High Sheriff of Radnorshire in 1646. A High Sheriff was a royal official responsible for keeping peace and enforcing laws in a county. Robert's father passed away in 1647.

Robert went to Brasenose College, Oxford, a famous university, in 1651. He might have also studied law at Lincoln's Inn in 1649. Lincoln's Inn is one of the four professional associations for barristers in London.

Serving His Community

Before becoming a Member of Parliament, Robert Weaver helped his local community. He worked as a Justice of the Peace for Herefordshire from 1653 to 1657. A Justice of the Peace is a person who helps keep law and order in their local area. They deal with minor legal cases and administrative duties.

Becoming a Politician

In 1659, Robert Weaver was chosen to be a Member of Parliament. This means he was elected to represent the area of New Radnor in the Third Protectorate Parliament. The Parliament was the main law-making body in England at that time. He served in this role from January to April 1659.

Later Life

Robert Weaver passed away in 1687. His son, also named Robert, is remembered in the Parish Church of St. John the Baptist and St. Alkmund in Aymestrey.
