Robert Antawon Whaley (born April 16, 1982) is an American former professional basketball player. He played as a center and was known for his skills on the court.

Early Basketball Journey
Robert Whaley finished high school at Benton Harbor High School in 2001. He was a top player there. After high school, he went to Barton County Community College for two years.
In 2003, he moved to the University of Cincinnati. Then, in 2004, he transferred to Walsh University. At Walsh, he had an amazing year in 2004–05. He was named the NAIA Division II Player of the Year. He also helped Walsh win its first NAIA National Championship. During that season, he scored about 19.9 points and grabbed 7.5 rebounds per game.
Playing in the NBA
The Utah Jazz picked Robert Whaley in the 2005 NBA draft. He was the 51st player chosen overall. This made him the most recent player drafted from an NAIA school at that time.
During the 2005–06 season, Whaley played in 23 games for the Jazz. He averaged 2.1 points and 1.9 rebounds per game. His best game was on December 23, 2005, against the New York Knicks, where he scored 11 points. He had a knee injury in January 2006, which kept him out for a while. He returned in March but played only one more game that season.
In June 2006, Whaley was traded to the Toronto Raptors. However, the Raptors later released him.
Playing After the NBA
After his time in the NBA, Robert Whaley continued to play basketball. He played briefly for Metros de Santiago in the Dominican Republic in 2006.
For the 2006–07 season, he joined the Twin City Ballers in the American Basketball Association. In March 2007, he moved to Iran to play for Petrochimi Imam for the rest of that season.
In November 2007, the Los Angeles D-Fenders selected him in the NBA Development League Draft. He played 22 games for the D-Fenders in the 2007–08 season. He averaged 4.0 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.
Life After Playing Basketball
In 2014, Robert Whaley started a new chapter in his life. He became an assistant coach for Utah Elite. This is a talented AAU basketball program. He worked with young players, mostly fifth-graders, helping them develop their skills.
