Robertlandy Simón Aties (born June 11, 1987) is a famous Cuban volleyball player. He is a key member of the Cuban national volleyball team. Robertlandy played for his country from 2005 to 2010 and then rejoined the team in 2019. He currently plays for an Italian club called Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza. He has won many important titles, including the NORCECA Championship in 2009. He also won a silver medal at the World Championship in 2010 and was a champion in the South Korean V-League twice (in 2015 and 2016).

Robertlandy Simón's Volleyball Journey

Robertlandy Simón started playing for the Cuban national team when he was just 17 years old. He was the captain of the Cuban national team for five years, showing his strong leadership skills.

Early Achievements

In 2009, Robertlandy won special individual awards at the World Grand Champions Cup. A year later, in 2010, Cuba's team, with Simón as a key player, reached the final of the World Championship. They played against Brazil and earned a silver medal. Robertlandy was recognized as the Best Blocker of that tournament.

Playing for Clubs Around the World

Simón has played for many different clubs. He won the Italian Cup in 2013/14 and the Challenge Cup in 2012/13 with the club Piacenza.

After the 2010 World Championship, Robertlandy left Cuba to play volleyball overseas. He was considered one of the best middle blockers in the world. He helped the club Al Rayyan win the Club World Championship in 2014. From 2014 to 2016, he was the highest-paid player in the South Korean League. In 2016, Simón joined the Brazilian club Sada Cruzeiro.

Amazing Spike Height

Robertlandy Simón is known for his incredible jumping ability. He has been recorded touching 384 centimeters (about 12 feet, 7 inches) when spiking the ball. His coach even said he reached a record of 389 centimeters (about 12 feet, 9 inches) during a test for his Piacenza team. This shows how high he can jump to hit the ball over the net!
