Roberto Júlio de Figueiredo, often known simply as Roberto, is a former professional footballer from Brazil. He was born on February 20, 1979. Roberto played as a midfielder, a position in football where players help both defend and attack. He spent much of his career playing for clubs in Brazil and Japan.
Roberto's Football Journey
Roberto started his professional football career in his home country, Brazil. He was born in Maringá, a city in the state of Paraná. His first big club was Ponte Preta. This team is based in Campinas, in the state of São Paulo. He played for Ponte Preta for several years, from 1998 to 2003.
Playing in Japan
After his time in Brazil, Roberto moved to Japan to continue his football career. He joined Avispa Fukuoka in 2004. He played there for three seasons, until 2006. After that, he moved to another Japanese club, Oita Trinita, where he played from 2007 to 2009.
Later in 2009, Roberto also played for Sagan Tosu. He then joined Yokohama FC in 2010. In 2011, he had a short loan spell with FC Tokyo, which is a team in the J2 League. Roberto's career shows he was a dedicated player who experienced football in two different countries.
